make something (jank)

i first heard steve jobs say this around 10 years ago:

"make something wonderful"

it's so simple.

but it's not.

i have countless scrapbooks filled with scribbles & ideas. and all of them just sit there squished between other ideas.

i start things 100 time over just to get to self doubt and throw the project out.

i've done that with this site about 10 times.

i've done that with apps, books, movies, just about everything.

why?

idk...

maybe perfectionism. maybe a fear of public criticism.

so now what?

again idk...

maybe instead of trying to make something wonderful, i start by making something jank.

something with negative expectations. something so dumb the excuse of failure is built into it.

maybe i just try to make something and put it out there.
